You can register for any of webinars listed below by checking the BSWG calendar or by referring to the list of times and dates provided on the website. To register, go to the calendar entry of your preferred webinar and click the registration link.  When registering, you will be asked to provide your name, the name of your clinic, your email address and if you are a member of the board or a senior staff member.  If you have any problems registering, you can always write to the BSWG care of: webcasts@onboardlegalclinics.org

Board Assessment


This webinar would be of interest to all members of a clinic board – particularly members of the Board’s Governance and Nominating committee or those board members charged with ensuring that an annual assessment of board competence is carried out.  The webinar explains the value of carrying out an effective board assessment program, identifies the key issues volunteer board members face when carrying out an assessment and clarifies the various board assessment roles and responsibilities of the board, the board chair, individual board members and the board’s governance committee

Business Planning


The Business Planning webinar helps board members understand how the clinic’s business plan aligns with the clinic’s strategic plan.  After participating in this webinar, participants will have gained a high-level understanding of the LAO business planning model; understand how Strategic Planning acts the foundation for business planning and discusses how performance measures fit into the business planning process

Cultural Competence


This is a topic that would benefit all clinic board members and senior clinic staff members generally as this is a growing issue in terms of providing equitable service to clients. It would be of particular value to those members of a clinic board’s Governance Committee or Human Resources Committee,  along with those involved in recruiting new board members to a clinic, especially if the need to develop greater board diversity is an issue.

New Board Member Orientation


The BSWG has developed a one-hour orientation webinar/teleconference designed to provide participants with basic information to help them carry out their responsibilities as clinic board members.  This session will also be of interest to any board member who would like to receive a refresher on board governance basics.
